Mounds Pet Food Warehouse Collects 10,000 Pounds Of Food, Ca Litter For DCHS | Community Spirit
In addition to donating 10 percent of pet food sales to Dane County Humane Society during the month of February, Mounds Pet Food Warehouse also held a barrel drive to collect pet food and cat litter for DCHS's Help Keep Pets in their Homes program.
In just one month, Mounds collected more than 10,000 pounds of food and litter.
Customers that purchased a bag of food for the Help Keep Pets in their Homes program were not only donating that food to the pantry program, but 10 percent of the proceeds went to DCHS for Mounds' annual People for Pets fundraiser.
Help Keep Pets in their Homes is a pet food pantry program made possible through a partnership between DCHS and the Community Action Coalition for South Central Wisconsin. The collected items are currently being stored at CAC – waiting for distribution. DCHS is in the process of scheduling volunteers to go to CAC, sort dog/cat food and litter and deliver the items to participating food pantries. The sorting and delivery will occur at the end of March and beginning of April.
