The Goodman Community Center food bank is asking for helping in collecting Thanksgiving food items to feed some 2,500 families in Dane County.

The center is packing baskets now and will be handing them out on Saturday, Nov. 23, according to a release.

They need everything from turkeys to canned vegetables, evaporated milk, canned fruit, stuffing, gravy mix and disposable pie tins and roasting pans. The center does not need pumpkin pie mix or cranberry sauce.

Anyone who wants to help can also make a financial contribution to help purchase turkeys and perishable items like milk, eggs, butter, celery, carrots, potatoes, onions, squash and apples.

Items can be dropped off at the Waubesa Street facility this week and next week during the center's regular operating hours.
