Crews Install Devices To Contain Algae At BB Clark Beach
Crews on Thursday morning installed new "boom" chains to keep blue-green algae from reaching Bernies and BB Clark beaches in downtown Madison.
The algae is dangerous to ingest and might cause itching, WISC-TV reported.
"The idea is to enclose an area and keep the floating (algae) from going into the area by using this boom," said Dick Lathrop, of the Department of Natural Resources.
